trouble building gdc-0.23

Doesn't help.  Not only that, but this time I tried building on a FC5 x86_64
machine.  I got the same result.  What am I doing that's different then the
way gdc-0.23-x86_64-linux-gcc-4.1.1.tar.bz2 was built?
