The article I'm working on for the contest involves
generic/meta-programming, but it's very informal and a bit silly. Definitely
not at all "grad thesis"-like. Here's an incomplete preview of it:

I'm guessing the tone of it probably wouldn't be appropriate for ACM, but I
suppose I wouldn't really know. Plus, I don't know if the style and tone
might make it difficult for non-native English speakers to understand.
I don't know about the length either. I was terrible at gaging essay length
back in college, and I'm still awful at it.
