But of course all the RFCs relate to an era of 9.6kbs lines and UUCP. In
this WWW era everyone assumes sending huge HTML email encoded in bizarre
Unicode encodings is not only mandatory, but also polite. 

And anyway RFCs were never actually binding, they were just proposals!
