Joel on D?

I read one of his books and sent him kudo's on it and to my surprise he returned the e-mail. IIRC, 
his book mentioned how he had to write a 'pascal string' C lib. for a project (to avoid strlen() 
inefficiencies) and I took the opportunity to mention D at that time. Didn't get anything back, but 
didn't really expect to either.
