I really like the second one.  I think the first one looks like a BS website 
for some global corporation that makes money by coming up with business 
speak.  The second one looks technical, but still welcoming, as well as 
being easier to modify (not so many complex images that have to fit together 
nicely).  And again, I'm a sucker for grey-and-red color schemes ;)
