My feelings the same. 1.x shouldn't be touched except for optimizations 
and bugfixes. Any idea can be introduced in 2.x but also with solid 
discussion especially from the experienced programmers' side. I consider 
changing .init in 1.x branch as a mistake which should be fixed as quick 
as possible.
