English used to have a letter for 'th', it looked very much like a letter 'y'.
If it had been allowed to evolve along with the other letters it might today resemble the Japanese Yen currency symbol.
This is of course why alot of people refer to things as "Ye Olde..." and pronounce "Ye" as 'ii' when technically it is 'the'.
