Right now, what's the most important for the success and adoption of D?

Ehrm, Phobos is Open Source licensed (zlib/png license / public domain)
which means that you can use and modify it under those license terms...

GDC already ships a modified version of Phobos (it's called "gPhobos")

The D *specification*, however, it's Walter's copyrighted work and not
available under any such license except for the frontend implementation.

And that implementation part is Free Software, under GPLv1 or Artistic.


So while Digital Mars Inc. keeps the copyright on all three parts of D,
they're available under very different licensing terms for each part:

* D - Copyrighted (not redistributable)
* DMD - GPL/Artistic (and copyrighted too)
* Phobos - zlib/png (some of it copyrighted, some it public domain)

Having the D 1.0 specification, now that it's finished/done (right ?),
being available/distributable under an open license would be great too.
