We wouldn't be using raw socket io but rather binding to the c++ RPC implementation. So the state of socket io in phobos (or tango) in neither here nor there for the purposes of doing network communications inside Google.

Anyway, perhaps I'll see if anyone is interested in playing around with this when Andreis book is out and D2 is finalized.
