What I'd like to see is the creation of a library file interface, say:

    std.archive

and then have implementations of it:

    std.archive.zip
    std.archive.tar
    std.archive.lha
    std.archive.7zip

etc. Pass a file name to a factory method of std.archive, and it figures 
out what kind of archive it is, instantiates the appropriate 
implementation, etc.
