DVCS vs. Subversion brittleness (was Re: Moving to D)

Bleh. I tried to use Git to update some of the doc files, but getting
the thing to work will be a miracle.

git can't find the public keys unless I use msysgit. Great. How
exactly do I cd to D:\ ?

So I try git-gui. Seems to work fine, I clone the forked repo and make
a few changes. I try to commit, it says I have to update first. So I
do that. *Error: crash crash crash*. I try to close the thing, it just
keeps crashing. CTRL+ALT+DEL time..

Okay, I try another GUI package, GitExtensions. I make new
public/private keys and add it to github, I'm about to clone but then
I get this "fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly".

I don't know what to say..
