Scala language shows that having some theoretical basis for the language design gives some advantages too :-) Being against ideas is stupid, since before Stone Age.

If you spend all time reading and writing about ideas you never create something that works and is useful, but if you never study&invent new ideas, you create obsolete things and you lose one of the best pleasures of life. So you need to find some middle point.
