Vote + (yes, works fine)

I want it and I need it. A Databases Access Layer (may it be a full 
blown  ORM  or even "just" a (D)ata (A)ccess (L)ayer ) depends on having 
unique IDs. ?

A convenience wish : string OID = GetUUID(); // RA UUID
