No, it isn't. Spaces aren't comfortable to use in existed editors. In 
spite of the fact that they provide a lot of support for N spaces to 
behave like a tab. And it unnecessary complicates editors (they can 
implement something more useful instead, like elastic tabstops from 
Trass3r's post).
