Don't see why not, but it's going to be an unpleasant mess of 
if/else unless anyone can think up any clever tricks to avoid it.

BTW is it true that IEEE standards define 0 * inf to be nan? It's 
counter-intuitive mathematically and I can't find a reference to 
that effect.
