Agreed.  If anything it seems more of a problem that, while we 
have multiple compilers, they're all based on the same frontend 
and library implementations.  Having a true 3rd-party 
implementation would be a real test of the maturity of the 
language and its spec.

Which reminds me, I really ought to re-inform myself of the state 
of SDC ...
