Can you post the script?

If it's a shell script, enabling `set -x` at the top might give a 
clue.

That's unlikely, but there's still many opportunities to 
heuristically detect classes of user mistakes and suggest 
actionable fixes. (E.g. this is done when the script path is 
specified relatively to $PWD instead of the source directory.)
