Sidenote: may I recommend the excellent tool multitime 
(/usr/bin/time with multiple passes): 
https://tratt.net/laurie/src/multitime/ , which gives you mean, 
median and standard deviation, automated multiple runs, and even 
interleaving of different commands to account for system load.
