I believe it is the same underlying sociopsychological phenomenon 
which also valid for software engineering. When you are a 
programmer you are also an author and you can become carried away 
with things that aren't really relevant. Like snowing by trying 
to optimize an inner loop with very little benefit at the same 
time other parts of the program needs the attention.
