AV data gets very large, and has complex processing that can be easily 
vectorized.

Formats like PNG, support compression via say zlib. So you're going to 
need to send a block of memory over to it.

Point is, using ranges for this is just shooting yourself in the foot if 
you want any type of performance that isn't bad.
