@safe(er) by default forerunner

Here's a blog entry from the OpenD splinter-verse regarding their 
journey into @safe(er) by default:

The approach taken is pragmatic and apparently useful, with a 
decent (benefit / nanny noise) ratio, so they're going to give it 
a go (it may already be merged).

We may do better than this as/when we move to @safe by default.  
At least we'll know where a few of the mines are located.
