[Robotgroup] Trail of LEDs

Need to be careful of some frequencies of flashing red lights triggering epileptic seizures, or is that a myth?
I don't recall the Mythbusters testing that one yet.

Saw a neat display where there were rotating vanes of LEDs that had IR sensors for each LED. With an IR source behind you, the rotating vanes (in front of you) did a persistence of vision thing that showed your shadow. Using red and green LEDs could make it Christmas'y.

Since the rotating vanes are not well aligned you get a red-green shift, looks like a mis-converged CRT, but recognizable.

I have always wanted to do a project that could flash A LOT of LED like
hundreds in some semi coherent way. We would need to build some kind of a
driver card anyone up for it?
