add buttons is fairly simple. Using them to alter the "flow" of a
program is possible, but on the BSII there is only on program running at
a time. so, you could build one program with different "parts" and use
the buttons to select what part of the program to run. :)

Very. they use small servo motors to move, are light weight and do not
have much power so it would be very unlikely anyone would get hurt. They
are pretty robust as well and should be safe to have on a table, just
don't drop it or step on it! :)

Sure. there are lots of neat parts from parallax but you can also go
shopping at lynxmotion, sparkfun and budget robotics etc. lots of places
to add stuff to the basic boebot platform. :)
