Super idea!   I was thinking vacuum myself but was wondering how to 
plumb vacuum to the plate.  Holes would probably work fine.  Half holes 
with curved areas would create an even stronger low pressure. Think 
reverse cheese grater.  I have vacuum motors with impellers if you would 
like to examine how they are made.
