My favorite quick and dirty source for a power supply is to convert a PC 
power supply:

Very robust and lots of voltage combinations can be made by combining 
the negative and positive potentials (i.e. between the -5v and the +5v 
you get 10v power.. between -5 and +12 you get 7v.. between +12 and -12 
is 24v etc..) :)

I used modified PC power supplies for the robospinart, the haunt 
controllers the XAR robot and as the supply for the SUV. :)
