Received a call from Norm this morning... :)
The Mansion of Terror had their grand opening to the public last night.
Their "normal" first night run is usually about 50-70 people due to a)
it being early in the season and b) they haven't begun their advertising
campaign.
Last night, they had over 250 people go through the haunt! They had
turned off the fluorescent lights in the front line area (where the ice
cream was) so they would not "pollute" the haunt area with ambient
light. So, now when the Hauntlights are "killed" by the actors, it goes
PITCH DARK in there and the screaming begins! :D
He is TOTALLY JAZZED about the lights, says the actors LOVE them, he had
NO light failures and (here's the fun part) he NEEDS TWELVE MORE ASAP!!!
The lack of lights actually became a choke point and slowed the line
down. The fact that he didn't just go buy some flashlights at HEB and
paint the lenses green means that the lights had become an integral part
of the haunt! YAY!
:D
Whats more, he anticipates he may need *another* twelve by the end of
the run this year to accommodate crowds and/or deal with any failures or
thefts.
He also mentioned that the patrons that handed in the flashlights said
things like "this flashlight didn't work! it kept going out and it would
happen right when the monsters were coming!" one lady handed in the
flashlight and said "Can we go through again? Our flashlight didn't
work!" Bwahahahah!! Love it!! :)
So, in summary, we delivered twelve Hauntlights and got an order for 24
more!! YARG!! Victims of our own success!! So, we have some work to do!!
