The PDF creator I use that is a printer driver that allows you to 
produce PDF output from any program that has a "print" function is:

The above is GNU so free for commercial and personal use. Also, remember 
that Open Office components can natively produce a PDF directly from the 
command bar. So, if you have Open Office Writer for example, you can 
create a PDF directly w/o need of any "helper" programs.
