Essentially, correct. You may post what you like if you feel it is in
keeping with the spirit of the group. :)

No, I didn't say that. The *quantity* of emails on the list has nothing
to do with the appropriateness of the "OT" designation.

Simply put, posting sans an "OT:" prefix on the subject line has not
been much of a problem in the past especially when the subject line is
sufficient to indicate an "OT:" post.

The reason I brought up the quantity of emails was to point out that the
low volume of mails here makes it easier to sort "wheat from chaff"
thereby mitigating any perceived "damage" done by omission of the "OT:"
designation.

Also, since the group has such varied interests, events, projects and
personalities it might be hard to classify what precisely is "OT:". I
would venture to say that we rarely have anything *completely* OT... The
group has too much variety. :)

 > everyone else be damned?. I thought so.

I'm truly sorry if the posts without the "OT:" designation upset you.

If one person posts an opinion such as this, there are probably others
who haven't posted but feel the same. I also looked carefully at some
previous posts to see if I was being consistent (I *think* I am). I know
there were discussions that went over things like thread hijacking and
subject drift (two of my pet peeves!) but I didn't see much time devoted
to OT posting. Frankly, it hasn't been much of a problem that I can
see..? (others feel free to let me know one way or the other).

I really hope the people subscribed to the list have a good time and
don't feel intimidated about posting their thoughts. When things go dead
quiet once in a while on the list, I like to post something that might
spark up a conversation.

As a matter of fact, I got into a chat conversation about whether or not
the Propeller SPIN language was compiled or tokenized because of the
cartoon so it did spark *some* tech discussion. :)

I want to encourage people to interact and share using this medium. I
don't want anyone to second guess themselves on posting just because
they fear it might not be "robotic" enough for us. If you're on the
list, we'd like you to participate. If the participation is incorrect,
we can provide guidance on posting as we go along.

Also, for anyone who is down on our friend "Mr. Poo Poo" for this series
of posts, please put into perspective that everyone's time is valuable
and he has every right to render an opinion on posts he feels may have
wasted his time. Everyone has to make their own decisions as to the
value of the lists to which they subscribe.

I hope this clears things up a bit? Calm, reasoned opinions and posts
are welcome (as long as we don't deteriorate into flames). ;)

Vern
