Hello cats! Since our senior cat-herding specialist (Denise) is out of
town, the task of volunteer coordination for FirstNight has fallen to
me. We've had some wonderful technical/mechanical help so far from
Wolf, Marvin, Paul, Rick, Gray, Bob and PY (I really hope I haven't
missed anyone!). Now we just need to run the event....
It appears from the FirstNight program that we are expected to be
operational at Buford Tower from 3:00 pm to 12:00 midnight. If we add in
set-up and tear-down estimated times, I see our entire time commitment
for the event to be 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Thirteen hours is alot for
Vern, Nic, Sami and I to cover on our own (plus Sami can't reach the
SpinArt very well), so I'd like to see who from TRG is available, when
and for how long. If committing to a set schedule is more comfortable,
here's how I see a sign-up sheet (NOTE: we need two to four people per
3-12 timeslot, plus familia Graner. Setup/breakdown can use all the
strong backs available)....
We'll be doing last-minute loading at our house at 10:00, then:
Setup at Buford Tower on Cesar Chavez (11:00a - 3:00p)
(or 11:00 - 1:00 and 1:00 - 3:00, if that is better for your situation)
Booth Times:
3:00 - 5:30
5:30 - 7:30
7:30 - 9:30
9:30 - 12:00
Breakdown (12:00a - 2:00a, although we should be done much earlier)
Please call me at 512-797-5196 if you can fill one or more of these time
slots. Vern's busy coding/wiring/working, and can still use some help in
that area if you'd like to join in the pre-fun! :) I've attached the
permit you'll need to drive behind the barricades, should you be part of
the setup/breakdown crew. Other than that, we've not been given any
parking passes or guidance. Sorry!
I'll send an update with sign-ups to the list later this evening or
tomorrow so you can get an idea of where you might best apply your efforts.
Even if you can't participate with our group, I hope you can make it
downtown to enjoy the festivities and spread the Robot Group word. :)
Happy happy, merry merry!
Kym
