'hi'... Hows that?

Seriously, Great meeting last night. I just posted some pictures on Meetup.com. I found The Robot Group, AGAIN, through Meetup.com but my first encounter with you guys was late 90's at Dobie Mall on Guadalupe. I forget exactly what the event was called. Anybody? I now see that there is a lot of activity in this group and I look forward to joining in the fun.

Meetup.com is fantastic for getting people's attention but I find it's still difficult to get people motivated. That is unless there is an underlying 'great attractor' like motorcycles or robotics or something. I organize a Meetup group called 'Austin Cacophony' and find it hard to get people involved. Everyone wants to belong but nobody wants to participate. A lot of people will RSVP 'yes' for an event and then never show up. The Santa Rampage was a part of a larger event and is very popular in Austin. Check it out:

Anyway, I'm a field engineer out of the semiconductor industry and a 'hands on' kind of guy. I've got the time and inclination to build and a real need to express myself right now. The Robot group should be the perfect venue. Thanks for having me. Regards, Eric Too
