Yuck! Why .svg for the web? It requires a plugin to view (at least,
under M$ Windoze). Even Adobe has announced that it plans to stop
supporting the .svg viewer.
IIRC .svg was Adobe's own creation. Despite that fact, .svg has
become the darling of the open source community; however, now that
Adobe has acquired Macromedia they intend to move forward with Flash
technology for the web.
