At Ed's behest, I called and spoke with Tom's brother, Joe. That was
a hard call to make but I made it. I offered my condolences on
behalf of The Robot Group tried to express the sentiment that we
shared their loss. Tom was a friend, a colleague, and an esteemed member.
Tom must have suffered a massive coronary ... he pitched forward so
quickly the he couldn't even lift his arms to break his fall. The
medical examiner told Joe that Tom was dead before he hit the ground.
I don't think that image is particularly pleasant, considering Tom's
happy-go-lucky demeanor. I would not wish that to be my final memory
of him, under any circumstances.
I would ask that everyone attend Thursday's meeting ... I will make
certain that a condolence card is available to sign and will see that
it gets mailed to the family on Friday morning.
For those among you that are more artistically-bent and have more
free time than I, perhaps a Proclamation of Appreciation from The
Robot Group would be in order.
Final note for now: Tom has been cremated. The family will publish a
notice in the paper in a month or so (probably closer to 6-7
weeks). Joe has my contact information and has asked that I call
back around that time for the results of the autopsy ... and so I shall.

Do not Stand at my Grave and Weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight.
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there -- I do not die.
All the best....
Mike
