A couple things:

* In my limited (obviously) gym-going experience, the "excessively  
buff enthusiasts" are pretty much isolationists and would probably  
rather the likes of me not use "their" equipment in "their" gym.   
Moral encouragement?  Maybe... but only by accident.   For a business  
like this to succeed, the hardcore group should be properly motivated  
to contribute their time and expertise in mentoring the novices --  
SAFE place to LEARN and then to BUILD among like minds.

* There's a HUGE difference between "gouging" and "making enough  
money to keep the thing operational and growing"  At the end of the  
day, whomever has to pay the rent on the space is going to have to  
collect money from SOMEwhere, or the resource is just going to  
disappear (sound familiar?)
