Three serial cables are needed to help complete a Robo-Project that
I'm working on (Yes! I am working on one finally!). If anyone has
one or all three of the cables listed below, and is willing to donate
it to the Robot Group, please contact me directly. I can meet the
donor at the Thursday meeting or make arrangements to come get
them. Since the cables will be specifically destined for an RG
project, they will NOT be given to me, but donated to the RG.
Here are the details:
1 @ Null Modem cable, female DB25 -> female DB9
2 @ Standard Serial cables, female DB25 -> female DB9
(Yes, all cables ARE female -> female connections.)
The preference is for all of them to be fairly short, say 1 to 3 feet
in overall length (the shorter the better). Also, if they can be in
the manufactured molded shells rather than custom made units, that
would provide for some longevity. If there ARE any customized cables
that will perform the same function as the commercially made ones,
and can be obtained without having to spend bucks, then I can see
about ruggedizing the wire-to-connector transition.
Take a peek into each of your boxes of old serial and null-modem
cables, and if you're willing to make a donation to the RG, I'll
gladly accept whatever is provided. If more than the original number
of cables are offered, the ones that best meet the spec's will be
used for the project, with kudos to everyone else.
If none can be found, each of the units listed will be ordered from
one of the more popular electronic supply houses online. My attempt
at getting them through a donation is meant to minimize any expense
the RG will incur.
Thank you and be sure to vote all incumbents out of office.
