Thanks Glen et all. for such informative overview
of USB and the requirements.

The original discussion that Gray and I had was related
to using some of the multitude of USB devices (in particular
USB cameras) as well as available uCs that have USB ports
(ie the PIC 18F2455) into an integrated solution.

The options we discussed were mostly around SBC boards and
other small devices that already have USB and may be hackable.

We were looking to see if any of the uCs had a host side, or
if a USB host controller chip could easily be integrated to a uC.

Going into the wire is something neither one of us even
considered (480 MBs is way outside of what I can do).

It seems that the only workable solution is from boards that
already run an OS with the required support, as it is a
non-trivial matter.
