Vern,
Butane lighter fluid ... butanol, mostly ... is
great for removing the gum. I usually peel off
as much of the paper as I can (a soak in warm
water helps loosen the glazed paper front from
the gummed cellulose fibers). Then use a little butanol and elbow grease.
Rick and Don can advise on the plastics polishing
but acrylic blocks, Lexan windshields, and
headlight covers might respond is wildly different fashion than PETE plastic.
