[Robotgroup] Clean/polish plastic?

In order to polish something that is flimsy, specifically a 
thin-walled plastic jar, filling it with water and then freezing it 
will provide the internal structural rigidity needed to apply LOTS of 
force along the outside, and still not affecting the plastic itself.

The only caveat is NOT to overfill the jar with the cap on when it 
goes into the freezer.  One of you information experts can provide 
the expansion ratio of liquid-to-frozen dihydrous monoxide, thereby 
allowing the rest of us to use the appropriate amount of water inside 
the jar the next time we have to accomplish this very task.
