Interesting idea ... saw something similar in an early episode of 
Star Trek - The Next Generation.   I can only imagine how long it 
will take from the time of release of said technology until some 
a$$hole creates a tunable transmitter to damage / disable / destroy 
receptive battery-powered devices.
