It would sure be nice not to have to drag that tangled
cable out from under my car seat everytime I get in
the car with my phone. I would like to just toss the
phone in a tray and let it juice up.
But its not just for convenience, I bet there are a
few elderly folks out there who have a hard time
putting those little batteries into their hearing
aids.

Some products already use remote power technology like
RFID tags. From what I have read, the emitter sends
out a RF broadcast, the tuned antenna coil receives
enough power for a chip to chirp back its code that a
detector uses to id your badge or your cow or watever.
No wires, no toxic batteries.

Now the trick is can they put it into batteries so
that existing devices can immediately be upgraded to
wireless charge? And furthermore-universally
compatible with other vendors so Vern doesn't need 13
(possibly conflicting) chargers for his 13 gadgets.
Sounds like the patent lawyers are already killing
this idea.

I was thinking wireless power would make a great
museum demo or robot sumo contest. Little gadgets that
move around in a controlled environment and dont need
staff to install a fresh set of batteries every hour.
