Yea, there's a lot of history there. History and lessons learned about group dynamics, about who represents a group, who may make commitments on behalf of a group.
Lessons learned about whether the group will be a source of funds, a sink for funds and effort, and the different motives people have for their membership in a not-for-profit.
Lessons learned about group leadership as performance art.
It all nearly killed the Robot Group. Kinda did, actually. Best of luck to everyone who has resurrected it, and here's hoping that the mistakes of the past are not completely repeated!
