[Robotgroup] H-Bridge driver?

I recall that the National Semiconductor LM18200 is pretty easy to use.  It does 3A max.

The ST L298 is a dual bridge that I have used, good if you have two motors to drive.

Both the above have protection circuits to help prevent you blowing them up.  I'd recommend that.
