Thanks for the link, Eric.  Sounds like a better investment to buy a 
completed, built and tested kit for little less than double the cost 
of a bare board.

Also, for anyone still interested in the original "Orange Board" of 
the old RoboHut archives, take a look at a unique motor controller on 
the same website, the H01194-01T L293D Secret Motor Driver Electronic 
Kit for $12.50 + S&H.  Sounds almost too good not to buy one or two or five.
