[Robotgroup] Printing PCBs

Hi Vern,
Certainly the concern about taking money for badly made boards is reasonable. I think it would be something for me to work out with anyone who actually gave me money though. I don't expect anyone to pay for my mistakes. If it makes you any more comfortable, I am happy to take money only after the board has been delivered. For the moment I am only looking for pledges, not investors.
As it happens I have done photo-etch before. I confess however to using someone else's setup. That is to say, they had worked out the bugs and knew reliably what distance to place the light from the board and how long to expose the board. I am quite happy to accept help from anyone who cares to offer.
It was never my intention to whack the hornet's nest with a stick. It's just a proposition for the group, and my hope to be able to participate more with the robotics in general and this group in particular. If there are enough takers I go forward. If not, I buy the board from Hobby Engineering, and get any spun boards I need from PCBExpress.

Was that one of those late-night caffeine-fueled cross-eyed discussions
in the shop that ranged far and wide over various terrain while various
contraptions took shape? :)

I agree that spreading knowledge, skills and equipment is a very good
thing and I encourage that. I think it could potentially be a "bad
thing" in one regard. Unless I misunderstood, it appears that Clendon
hasn't done this before.
I think it might be an opportunity for upset if he were to take money
from folks and then wasn't able to create usable boards due to
inexperience/ learning mistakes.
I was thinking that if we get Paul and/or Gray to assist, then Clendon
can go down this road with less risk of problems for the folks that
contribute $$ to the project. (Ask Paul about how tricky getting a good
board can be!) This would definitely be in the spirit of sharing
knowledge & skills. :)

I agree having two would be a waste. But, last I checked, The Robot
Group owns quantity zero projectors. ;)
