[Robotgroup] Help with Invacare Pronto 250 Wheelchair motors

I have an Invacare Pronto 250 mobility chair chassis I am retrofitting
to make a mobile platform. It has two "wheelchair" motors but the motors
have four leads coming from each one. Two are large gauge (i.e. like ~12
ga) and the other two are smaller (~16 ga).

I have applied power to the large gauge wires and the motor turns, but
I'm not sure what the other two wires are for... are they encoder wheel
feedback? Maybe motor brakes? Anyone have any experience with this type
of motor? I'll get model numbers off them when I get home tonight if
that will help.
