Rechargeable batteries:

Does anyone have any recommendation - based on personal experience, 
not hearsay - for 1.5V D-cell, C-cell, AA-cell, AAA-cell, and 9V 
("transistor radio") batteries and charger system?  Alternatively, 
does anyone have an anti-recommendation?

Batteries run a variety of flashlights, remote control units for 
appliances, digital camera, timer- and alarm-backups....


Stereo computer speakers with subwoofer:

Does anyone have any recommendation - based on personal experience, 
not hearsay - for a 'decent' 3-piece set of computer 
speakers?    Alternatively, does anyone have an anti-recommendation?

[If I ever determine the dirty dog who snagged my Altec-Lansings from 
the old Robohut ... returned them ... then ran off with them again 
before Derek could execute the necessary repairs, my size 9-1/2 foot 
has a message for your a$$.]
