[Robotgroup] Motherboards Going Out - Replacements Needed

Old m/b's going out and a humble request for 1+ socket 462's.

After spending quite a few hours cleaning up a small part of the shop, I've
finally accumulated enough electronic stuff to make my first small
recycling run to Mike's.

Some older motherboards are headed out and are available to whomever feels
they can put them to use, either complete or for parts. A number of them
have already been tested and work fine. A few of the others, however . . .

The majority are much slower than what most people would consider usable
for a 'modern' computer, but if it works for you, then let me know and
they're yours.

There are three PII-300's that I've had on the bench to test harddrives,
CD-ROMs and the like that run, but may not be good for anything more than
target practice, so let that be the highest standard of what's headed to
the recycler. A couple of the oldest boards are from the XT generation
that have been tucked deep inside an electronics 'TO-DO' box far too long,
and although they may work, there is little that they can be used for other
than a museum display. I think there's even one of them that has an
original 8088 chip on it.

Now, for some grovelling ---------- :(

A humble request is being tendered for a replacement board to one of the
backup computers on my network that recently failed. Fortunately, the
machine is not absolutely critical to my operation, but its continued
functionality does make my life a bit easier.

The board that failed is a MicroStar MS-6330, just in case you know where I
can get my hands on one. I've already tried MC Howard and Frye's, and both
told me (through a wide smirk) that nobody carries anything that old other
than possibly Goodwill.

If there is any board meeting the description below laying around on a
dusty shelf or inside an old cardboard box, AND if you're willing to donate
it, I'd appreciate it. If you need some cash to lubricate your palm to
properly help the board fly out of your garage or storage bin, then let me
know what you're after. Maybe we can do a deal.

If, however, you're willing to hand off a stack of older 462 m/b's that are
in unknown or possibly even broken condition, no worries. I have a
diagnostic card to test them thoroughly and may be able to piece together
something from a collection of questionable boards and any parts that come
from them.

This is what I'm after, and please don't laugh too hard:

- Socket 462 (Socket-A) [AMD Athlon generation];
- with or w/o CPU (1000+ Mhz if available);
- heatsinks and fans I've got;
- SDRAM memory sockets versus DDR (I've got plenty of older memory and
don't want to buy a whole bunch of new stuff if not necessary);
- onboard video acceptable but not required;
- onboard LAN not needed but acceptable;
- onboard audio not required but also acceptable;
- AGP socket not critical; I've got PCI video cards;

I know it sounds like I'm asking a lot for a written request, but last
quarter was kind of slow and I'm running on a shoe-string budget right
now. If I don't fix the machine for a while (until I can find a
replacement 462 board in a dumpster), then I'll just have to wait.

Thanks for taking the time to read this through.
