Hi everyone... I'm Scott. I met some of you last week. I was attempting to demonstrate a pattern recognition algorithm. My wife Bonnie was sitting across from Stephanie. They were talking about their kids. Anyway I just discovered you guys have an email list and I was in the process of introducing myself but it looks like I've been outed already so...
I'm a DOT NET programmer, and I have sort of a creative background and by "sort of" I mean I majored in English, then a few years later I tried the ATI graphic design program which didn't work out because I can't draw, and then a few years later I dropped out of grad school which was an MFA for creative writing. About a month ago I was looking for some code for my job, and unfortunately for Bonnie I stumbled upon the Microsoft Robotics API.
Excuse me if I'm being inappropriate, but I joined the Robot Group because I'm actually looking to recruit some equity partners. Specifically I'm looking for:
1) A mathematician: To co-author the recognition algorithm. the reason why it wasn't working was not because the logic is wrong, but because of the DOT NET part. But that doesn't mean the logic isn't wrong. Also sometimes I'll just need someone to "do the math", like can you calculate a volume or a velocity, and no I can't explain to you why I want that calculated, can you just give me a number please.
2) An engineer (electrical and mechanical): Your function would be stuff like, make it go faster, make the arm lift more, make the battery last longer, make it cost less to build. Really easy stuff. I finally got my "design concept" started this weekend. My intent was to finish it but it took me six hours and three trips to Home Depot to attach one 2" PVC to a Rubbermaid bin so you can see why I might need some help. Oh and also be a PC tech who can fix or replace broken computer parts because I need that ability and I don't feel like learning it myself.
I'm not looking to "hire" anyone becase I'm not a company, or anything with any capability of "paying" you. Basically what I am offering is an opportunity to co-invent the ultimate killer app for robotics and Microsoft. If interested, send me an email off list. I don't remember anyone's name so if you were at the meeting and you decide to reply, could you please state what you look like and what you were wearing and what we talked about?
Thanks!
Scott
