I would like to respond in the case of my son, whom we joined Robot
Group for. Since joining a few months ago, he has received a ton of
help from other members of the group. My family and I have no prior
electrical, robotic, or mechanical experience and the most I can claim
is working on a robot kit through my industrial technology class almost
20 years ago. These folks have been very supportive of my son's wind
turbine project and have gone out of their way to help him understand
the facets of his project. Many have brought components to the meetings
for him to test and learn from and even one went so far and to help him
design and fabricate a special piece that was desperately needed in
order for him to proceed. In short, there seems to be a lot of
collaboration in the group. Some aspects may not be pertinent to all of
the group, but based on the show-and-tell at the meetings one can
gravitate towards the people who are involved in a similar knowledge
base or even learn who to talk to when they want to expand their
skills. I am very happy that we are part of this group and it has
sparked a creative and technical spark in our family that could have
only been ignited by being part of such a special group of people.
