Brooks,

I think the lesson learned from the early days was probably to make  
sure everyone's rear was covered at all times. Taking risks may  
result in large rewards, but it can also sink you faster if something  
goes south.

I am not interested in building a specific robot at this time, but I  
am interested in exploring specific fields that are intimately  
related to robotics. To me the first step is setting up shop to be  
able to do the work I want to do. Once I have done that, I will  
gladly invite others to share the environment.
