[Robotgroup] [OT] World's most powerful Petawatt laser!

You know, one type of film making that can be very profitable and is
relatively easy for new media artists are tech documentaries. John, that
might be somethnig you can sink your teeth into and actually get it done and
make a good chunk of change. The trick is to do something that the masses
are interested in, at least a segment of them. I wonder if there are enough
robot groups, companies, etc. here in austin to do a series of interviews
with an MC intercut between the interview explaining things and moving on.
The series Revenge of the nerds 1.0 and 2.0 was shot in my area in silicon
valley by Robert X Cringley (not his real name) and sold a ton of units.

Of course, that's a bigger market; the creation of the computer industry,
but something about robotics or new media artists locally might make a nice
30-60 min piece. Easy editing, cool transitions, no actors needed, low/no
budget really. Just have to get 20-30 interviews set up and then a filler
script for the MC as he goes from interview to interview. Or maybe open it
up to general tech/artists all around Austin, that would be of interest to
even more people and interview everyone from roboteers to electromechanical
artists like professor Conrad :) I would watch it, then it ties "Austin/new
media/tech/game dev/UT austin" all together, and if there is some
educational history annecdotes, that might be a pretty good selling item on
a website, or amazon (which you can place products yourself). Show the world
that austin is really the #1 new media technology pressure cooker in the USA
now, show everyone how diverse all the cool things are here from nanotech,
lasers, robots to electronic music and wearable clothing....

Wow, I love that movie... A must see, serious!
Some other good viewings: Android, Silent Running, Ice Pirates, Saturn
3, Screamers, Hardware, Robot Wars, and there was this Saturday morning
show called "Space Academy" that a little robot (peepo) and Jason of
Star Command had W.I.K.I.

How about making a show like Brooks had mentioned, "The Robot Group:
Real Geniuses!" I will be working on getting my producers license at
Pact. I can help after I finish my movie this summer/fall.
